In some cultures, age is expressed by counting year with or without including the current year. For example, one person who is twenty years old is the as one person who is in the twenty-first year of his/her life.  one of the traditional Chinese age systems, people are born at age 1 and the age grows up at the Traditional Chinese New Year instead birthday. For example, if one baby was born just  day before the Traditional Chinese New Year, 2 days later, the baby will be at age 2 even though he/she is only 2 days old.




In some situations, the months and days result of this age calculator may  confusing, especially when  starting date is the end of a month. For example, we  count Feb. 20  March 20 to be one month. However, there two ways to calculate the age from Feb. 28, 2015 to Mar. 31, 2015. If thinking Feb. 28 to Mar. 28 as one month, then result is one month and 3 days. If thinking both Feb. 28 and Mar. 31 as end of the month, then the result is one month. calculation results are reasonable. Similar situation exist for dates like Apr. 30  May 31, May 30 to June 30, etc. The confusion comes from the uneven number days in different months. In  calculation, we used the former method.

What is being proposed?

The proposal is that The University of Edinburgh should enable students to use the computer to compose their essay-examination responses in the formal examinations.

The solution proposed is to the use student owned laptops, with the students downloading the necessary software (Exam 4 from a company called Integrity) prior to the examination. (The question paper is the still distributed in the exam hall.) Clearly students need time to the familiarize themselves with the software, but experience to the date shows that the download and install are the easy and that typically students feel comfortable with the greatly less than half an hour practicing with the software.ask students to the put the number or alias on the exam and to place that number / alias on an index card that is the turned in with the test, or have students write their names on the last page of the blue book or on the back of the test.
